She was forced to marry her sister’s comatose fiancé. Everyone expected a funeral… but what happened when he woke up left them speechless.

The grand crystal chandelier cast a heavy golden glow over the luxurious Sinclair living room, illuminating a tension thick enough to cut. The silence was suffocating, broken only by the ticking of an antique clock and the muffled sobs of Victoria Hayes, the golden child, the favorite.

Emily Hayes sat stiffly on the velvet sofa, gripping her dress so tightly her knuckles turned white. Across from her, her parents stood with arms crossed and cold, unreadable expressions.

—I can’t do it! —Victoria cried dramatically, dabbing her tears with a silk handkerchief. —I just can’t!

Emily frowned, a dark feeling settling in her stomach. —Do what? —she asked carefully.

Her mother exhaled impatiently. —Your sister cannot marry Alexander Knight in his current condition.

Emily’s body went rigid. Alexander Knight—the powerful young billionaire, Victoria’s perfect fiancé—had been in a devastating car accident two months ago. He now lay in a hospital bed, in a coma.

—Wait… —Emily’s voice trembled—. You mean the wedding is still happening?

Her father let out a dry, cruel laugh. —Of course it is. Do you have any idea how much money is involved? If the Knight family pulls out of the deal, we lose everything.

—But Victoria doesn’t have to do it —her mother added coldly—, because you will.

The words hit Emily like a slap.

—What?! No! That’s insane!

Victoria sobbed louder. —Emily, please… I can’t marry a man who may never wake up. I’m only twenty-four. My life would be ruined.

Emily searched her parents’ faces for humanity, but found only calculation.

—And if he never wakes up? —she whispered.

—Then you’ll live as a wealthy widow —her father replied—. But right now, we need that signature.

Emily clenched her fists.

She had no choice.

—Fine… I’ll do it.

The wedding was a grotesque illusion.

Emily walked down the aisle in a white dress that felt like a burial gown. There was no groom—only a lawyer and a nurse signing on Alexander’s behalf.

—I do —she said, her voice empty.

No kiss.

No celebration.

Just a contract binding her to a man who didn’t know she existed.

That same night, she moved into the Knight mansion.

A palace of marble… and loneliness.

The staff whispered behind her back:

“Gold digger.”

“Waiting for him to die.”

Emily ignored them.

But everything changed when she entered Alexander’s room.

He was there—perfect, still, alive… but unreachable.

She took his hand.

—I’m Emily… your wife. I didn’t choose this… and neither did you. But I won’t leave you.

And she kept that promise.

Unlike Victoria, who never even visited him, Emily devoted herself completely.

She read to him every day.

Filled his room with flowers.

Cared for him.

Protected him.

Slowly, the staff stopped whispering.

They started respecting her.

Then one rainy afternoon—

His finger moved.

Emily froze.

—Alexander…?

His eyelids trembled.

The impossible was happening.

He was coming back.

The news spread fast.

And so did the danger.

That night, Victoria called.

—Pack your bags, Emily. The moment he wakes up, he’ll realize he married the wrong sister. I’m the one he loves. You were just temporary.

Emily hung up, shaking.

Fear crept in.

What would happen when he woke up?

That night—

A voice broke the silence.

—Who… are you?

Emily’s heart stopped.

Alexander was awake.

—I'm… your wife.

He frowned.

—I don’t remember anything.

Diagnosis: amnesia.

He remembered nothing.

Not her.

Not the accident.

Not his past.

Before Emily could explain—

Victoria burst in.

—Alexander! My love!

She pushed Emily aside.

—I’m your fiancée. The love of your life.

Emily felt sick.

—Stop lying.

But Victoria didn’t stop.

Days turned into a nightmare.

Victoria filled his head with lies.

Emily stayed silent.

She didn’t fight with words.

She fought with care.

She helped him walk.

Brought him coffee.

Stayed when everything felt overwhelming.

One day, Alexander stopped her.

—Why are you still here?

—Because you’re my husband.

—Then why do I trust you… more than her?

Emily’s heart trembled.

Something was changing.

But Emily discovered something worse.

The accident…

Was not an accident.

Victoria had paid a mechanic.

Brake failure.

Attempted murder.

That night, Emily confronted her.

—I know what you did.

Victoria smirked.

—And who will believe you?

—Me.

A voice cut through the room.

Alexander stood in the doorway.

Eyes clear.

Memory back.

—I remember everything.

Victoria froze.

—I remember you smiling… before I almost died.

Security dragged her away.

Police were called.

Silence returned.

But this time…

It was peaceful.

Alexander turned to Emily.

—I’m sorry… for everything.

—You’re alive. That’s enough.

—No. You saved me.

He knelt before her.

—I want to choose you… this time. For real. Emily Hayes… will you marry me again?

Tears filled her eyes.

—Yes… a thousand times yes.

Their second wedding was simple.

Real.

Full of love.

No lies.

No contracts.

Just two souls who survived everything.

Victoria ended up in prison.

Emily’s parents were left in shame.

But Emily and Alexander?

They moved forward.

Together.

Because real love isn’t forced.

It awakens.

May you like

It fights.

And it wins.
