PART 2 The Child Who Shouldn't Have Survived

The rescue made national news.

A mother.

A newborn.

Three days lost at sea.

Everyone called it a miracle.

But the doctors discovered something even stranger.

The baby had survived conditions that should have killed him.

Extreme cold.

Dehydration.

Exposure.

Yet every test came back surprisingly strong.

While Elena recovered in the hospital, reporters flooded the building.

Everyone wanted the same story.

How did they survive?

Elena always gave the same answer.

"Love."

Then one afternoon an elderly man appeared in the hospital lobby.

Gray hair.

Weathered face.

Eyes full of disbelief.

He stared through the nursery window at the sleeping baby.

Then tears filled his eyes.

Because he recognized something.

A birthmark.

Small.

Crescent-shaped.

Behind the baby's left ear.

The same mark carried by every firstborn son in his family.

The old man introduced himself.

His name was Thomas Bennett.

And according to him...

the baby wasn't just Elena's son.

He was also his grandson.

The room went silent.

Because Thomas believed his son, Michael Bennett, had died three years earlier in a fishing accident.

If that was true...

May you like

how could this child exist?

And why had Michael never told anyone?
